Now John observes the second beast, the false prophet, arising from the earth. His rising recalls man's creation in Genesis and affirms the false prophet's human nature. Though his miracles may suggest otherwise, he is only a man and nothing more. To legitimize the beast's throne, he claims to be a prophet of God and his infamy exceeds all other false prophets throughout history including the magicians at Pharaoh's court, the counselors at Nebuchadnezzar's palace, and the myriad of false prophets to the kings of Judah and Israel. He receives all of the antichrist's power, including that given by the dragon. He uses this power to edify both the dragon and the beast so they can deceive the world into worshipping and serving them. He performs great miracles, not ordinary slight of hand magician's tricks, but unexplainable miracles as grand and logic defying as any found in the Old Testament, even imitating prophets like Elijah. Now for the first time, all three members of the unholy trinity, the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet, are together, cooperating, and fully sharing power.
